James Scapa brought nearly 40 years of business growth, innovation, and cultural stewardship to his former role as chairman and CEO of Altair (Nasdaq: ALTR), a global leader in computational intelligence software. 

Through James’ leadership, the company served more than 16,000 customers and employed more than 3,000 employees with 79 offices across 28 countries. Altair software is used across a broad range of industry sectors including automotive, aerospace, government and defense, finance, energy, electronics, life sciences, architecture, and construction. Siemens acquired Altair in March 2025. 

Following the acquisition, Jim co-founded Escape Investment Management. A family office focused on investing in technology innovation. 

Jim holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Columbia University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Michigan.
