Hey everyone! I’m Peyton Fitzgerald, FIRST alum of 5459 Ipswich TIGERS and current mentor of 125 Nutrons. FIRST changed my life, as I speak to in this article, not just in terms of engineering, but also helping me afford college by connecting me to scholarship opportunities through the FIRST Scholarship Program.

The correlation between college preparation and stress, as many of you know, is strong and unavoidable. One of the most stressful parts of the whole process is figuring out how to afford tuition, board, and all of the fees that come along with it. Luckily, FIRST has partnered with universities all over North America and the World who make available scholarships exclusively for FIRST participants and alumni.

Find your way Fridays, scholarshipsFor FIRST students applying to college - there is a new pathway designed with you in mind at the Compass Alliance. The Scholarship Pathway is your guide to applying for FIRST scholarships. Written and reviewed by both scholarship award winners (like me!) and reviewers, it will guide you through the details of organizing the process and how to show scholarships reviewers how awesome you really are - even with the limited word count of applications. My goal is to fill in all of the unknowns of what can be such an overwhelming process, so you can focus on making the best possible application. Good luck!

If you want to keep up with the other projects for The Compass Alliance, follow our social media (Facebook and Instagram). It’s run by some pretty cool people, so check it out and keep up with all the new arrivals on the website.
