Here’s what else we understand—more than 80 percent of FIRST® participants are committed to doing well in school and more than 90 percent are college-bound. Because we value your program experience, as well as all of your hard work during high school, FIRST® alumni pursuing a degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, computing science, physics and mathematics are invited to apply for one of five $5,000 FIRST® scholarships at JU.
FIRST® scholarships are stackable! Incoming freshman enrolled full-time as STEM majors, who meet the requirements below, have the potential to earn $20,000 over four years in scholarship support. And that’s in addition to our merit-based and talent scholarships. 


  • Current senior in high school
  • Apply to JU as a full-time student
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Minimum combined SAT score of 1150 (older version) or 1220, OR
  • Minimum ACT composite score of 24
  • High school participant in a minimum one full season of a FIRST® Robotics Competition or a FIRST® Tech Challenge Team

  • Complete the FIRST® Scholarship application here.
  • Submit a 300-word essay regarding your FIRST® experience and future career goals.
  • Obtain one letter of recommendation from an adult coach/mentor on your FIRST® team.
