MANCHESTER, N.H., August 4, 2026 – FIRST®, a global robotics community that prepares young people for the future, and LEGO® Education, a global force for Learning-Through-Play, today launched the 2026-2027 FIRST® LEGO® League BIOGLOW™ season to inspire students to explore how nature, technology, and innovation are interconnected through hands-on learning experiences.
The BIOGLOW season kicks off today and will culminate in events around the world through summer 2027. Throughout the season, students will investigate biodiversity and discover how living organisms, ecosystems, and natural systems work together to sustain life on our planet. Students will develop critical-thinking, creativity, and design skills as they build, program, and test robots using LEGO® bricks and technology, while creating innovative solutions inspired by the natural world.
The BIOGLOW season also marks the final season of FIRST LEGO League, celebrating nearly three decades of inspiring millions of young people worldwide to explore STEM through teamwork, creativity, and hands-on learning. During BIOGLOW, FIRST LEGO League will offer two editions, Founders Edition and Future Edition, as the program delivers the experiences that have defined the program for generations: innovation, teamwork, problem-solving, and the excitement of learning together.

Team registration for both FIRST LEGO League program editions is now open, with event availability, format, and timing varying by region:
BIOGLOW Founders Edition: Available for FIRST® LEGO® League Explore (grades 2-4) and Challenge (grades 4-8), Founders Edition is based on LEGO® Education SPIKE™ technology. Teams will participate in a game experience, programming a robot to autonomously complete missions against a playing field during two-and-a-half-minute matches. Teams will also explore the biodiversity theme through the Robot Game and Innovation Project.
BIOGLOW Future Edition: Available for FIRST LEGO League programs serving Grades K-2 and 3-8, Future Edition is based on LEGO® Education Computer Science & AI kits. Teams will collaborate to build and code wireless hardware to advance their skills and solve missions in this new interactive alliance-based game across the mat during the two-and-a-half minute matches. Through their innovation project they will dig deeper and learn more about biodiversity and how the balance between nature and humans keeps our world healthy.
Season details for Founders Edition and Future Edition (Grades 3-8) are available now on the FIRST website. Future Edition (Grades K-2) details will be available in October.
