Volunteer as a Spare Parts Attendant

FIRST Robotics Competition Only

The Spare Parts Attendant manages the distribution and loaning of spare materials to teams. They help to set up and breakdown the spare parts table, and help teams complete the required paperwork. This role populates the distribution log, keeping track of all parts exchanged and loaned, and if needed, enforcing exchange/loaner requirements and restrictions. For loaning out specific parts, the Spare Parts Attendant will also work with the FTA and CSA to get approval.

Minimum Age: 13 years old

Experience: No FIRST or Related Field Experience required

• Knowledge of current season kit of parts is preferred

Training: No pre-event training required

• Training will be conducted on site

Volunteer Time Commitment:

• Minimum 1 full day commitment required for this role  
• Preferred 2 full day commitment (Districts) or 3 full day commitment (Regionals)

• Strong organizational skills
• Self-directed individual
• Volunteers should focus on the role they are filling at that event. This includes:
  • Helping avoid the appearance of bias by not cheering for one specific team when wearing official event apparel (volunteer shirt or FIRST/Partner staff clothing). Instead, we encourage volunteers to cheer for all teams equally.  
  • Refrain from accessing sensitive event areas unless they are necessary to fulfill your volunteer role for this event. This can include playing field access, scoring table and judging rooms.
  • Wearing volunteer specific apparel (e.g. FTA shirt, Robot Inspector hat, etc) only when filling that specific role.  
• Must read and comply with the Volunteer Handbook

This role is available at Championship with these additional requirements:

• Championship Minimum Age: 15 years old
• Championship Volunteer Time Commitment:
  • Spare Parts Attendants are needed Wednesday morning – Saturday afternoon.
  • Can be divided among multiple volunteers for the event.
  • More information will be sent before the event.
