Event Volunteer Role
Team Registration
Team Registration volunteers are the welcoming faces of the event, greeting teams, checking rosters, and distributing essential event materials. This role helps set the tone for the day and ensures teams are ready to compete.
Volunteer as a Team Registration Volunteer
Team Registration volunteers help check in teams at the beginning of the event and provide them with information and materials for the day. This role also involves giving directions, distributing team packets, and answering questions. Volunteers in this role must be friendly, detail-oriented, and capable of working in a busy environment during the event’s early hours.
Minimum Age: varied by program (see below)
Experience: No FIRST or related field experience required
Training: Some pre-event training required
- Data Privacy and Protection Training through FIRST Training
Role Details / Responsibilities:
- Greet and check in teams as they arrive at the event
- Distribute registration packets or materials to team representatives
- Provide directions and answer event-related questions
- Maintain a calm and efficient registration flow during busy arrival periods
- Collaborate with Volunteer Coordinator or Pit Admin Supervisor as needed
- Volunteers should focus on the role they are filling at that event. This includes:
- Helping avoid the appearance of bias by not cheering for one specific team when wearing official event apparel (volunteer shirt or FIRST/Partner staff clothing). Instead, we encourage volunteers to cheer for all teams equally.
- Refrain from accessing sensitive event areas unless they are necessary to fulfill your volunteer role for this event. This can include playing field access, scoring table and judging rooms.
- Wearing volunteer specific apparel (e.g. FTA shirt, Robot Inspector hat, etc) only when filling that specific role
- Must read and comply with the Volunteer Handbook
