Starting with a Kit of Parts, teams of high school students design, program, and build industrial-sized robots to play an action-packed game, released in January. They compete on a themed field as part of a three-team alliance in the spirit of Coopertition®. In 360-degree learning guided by adult mentors, each FIRST® Robotics Competition team also creates a team identity, raises funds to meet its goals, and advances appreciation for STEM in its community.

Event Information
Your event registration type varies by location.
FIRST Robotics Competition teams compete in one of two models depending on location. Any team not in a district geography is automatically a regional model team.
Participation Models:
- Regional Model: Teams compete at one, usually larger-scale, Regional Event as part of their season registration. From each of these Regional Events, a few teams qualify for the FIRST Championship
- District Model: Teams have the opportunity to compete at two smaller-scale District Events as part of their season registration. Some District Teams will earn enough ranking points at these District events to earn their way to the District Championship Event. Each District sends a representative number of Teams to the FIRST Championship through the District Championship Event.

What payment methods do you accept?
You can pay for FIRST registration and materials through a few different payment methods.
1. Purchase Order (PO): You must upload your purchase order through the payment screen on the FIRST Dashboard.
FIRST cannot accept a commitment letter from a School or School District.
2. Credit Card: FIRST accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. Credit Card Payments can be processed through the payment screen on the FIRST Dashboard.
3. Check: (USD funds only drawn on a U.S. bank). Please make sure that all checks remitted state your program and team or account number to enable swift & proper crediting.

Payment deadlines vary by program.
FIRST LEGO League:
Traditional Team and Class Pack registration is open through the end of the season (April).
FIRST Tech Challenge:
Traditional Team and Class Pack registration is open through the end of the season (April).
FIRST Robotics Competition:
The season team registration fee due date is in mid-November and additional event fees are normally due at the end of January.

Is official FIRST event participation included in registration?
Event participation varies by region.
FIRST LEGO League and FIRST Tech Challenge registration does not include event participation.
Traditional Team: teams have the ability to register for locally hosted events through their FIRST Program Delivery Partner. There may be additional fees to participate in these events, and those fees and payment terms are set by the FIRST Program Delivery Partner.
Class Pack: sites host their own celebration event at the end of their experience.
FIRST Robotics Competition teams have one or two events included as part of their registration depending on their geography's participation model.
