When you register for a FIRST® program, you're investing in student's futures and giving them the skills they'll need to succeed today and tomorrow. 

Investment costs vary by program and offering with additional cost considerations varying by region and event participation.

FIRST LEGO League Discover

FIRST LEGO League Explore

Students in Explore will focus on the fundamentals of engineering while experiencing hands-on problem solving. Students will learn to design, code, and discover real-world solutions using LEGO bricks. Powered by LEGO® Education SPIKETM Essential.

FIRST LEGO League Challenge

Students will begin to apply the STEM skills they have learned to friendly competition, engaging in research, problem-solving, coding, and engineering. These students will program a LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Prime robot to complete seasonal games and challenges in addition to researching, identifying, and solving a real-world problem.

FIRST LEGO League Challenge Traditional Team registration includes guided materials you need to engage participants and access to purchase other supporting materials.

FIRST Tech Challenge

FIRST® Tech Challenge students work together with their mentors to design and build dynamic robots to compete in an exciting game released every September.

While developing their STEM skills and mastering engineering principles, students learn the value of persistence, innovation, teamwork, and the engineering design process.

FIRST Robotics Competition

Starting with a Kit of Parts, teams of high school students design, program, and build industrial-sized robots to play an action-packed game, released in January. They compete on a themed field as part of a three-team alliance in the spirit of Coopertition®. In 360-degree learning guided by adult mentors, each FIRST® Robotics Competition team also creates a team identity, raises funds to meet its goals, and advances appreciation for STEM in its community.

Each team registration includes a Kit of Parts and free mentor courses hosted in FIRST Training.

If a team is not attending a local Kickoff, they have the option to be a “MySite” team and have their Kickoff Kit shipped, after Kickoff, to an address of their choice for an additional fee.

Your event registration type varies by location.

FIRST Robotics Competition teams compete in one of two models depending on location. Any team not in a district geography is automatically a regional model team.

What payment methods do you accept?

You can pay for FIRST registration and materials through a few different payment methods. 

1. Purchase Order (PO): You must upload your purchase order through the payment screen on the FIRST Dashboard. 
FIRST cannot accept a commitment letter from a School or School District.
 
2. Credit Card: FIRST accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.  Credit Card Payments can be processed through the payment screen on the FIRST Dashboard.
 
3. Check: (USD funds only drawn on a U.S. bank).  Please make sure that all checks remitted state your program and team or account number to enable swift & proper crediting.

When is payment due?

Payment deadlines vary by program. 

FIRST LEGO League:

Traditional Team and Class Pack registration is open through the end of the season (April). 

FIRST Tech Challenge:

Traditional Team and Class Pack registration is open through the end of the season (April).

FIRST Robotics Competition: 

The season team registration fee due date is in mid-November and additional event fees are normally due at the end of January. 

How do I create a quote or proforma invoice?

You can create a quote or proforma invoice from your FIRST Dashboard shopping cart.

Once you've added all registration and items to your cart, follow the steps on this FIRST Knowledge Base article to create your quote/proforma invoice. 

Is official FIRST event participation included in registration?

Event participation varies by region.

FIRST LEGO League and FIRST Tech Challenge registration does not include event participation

Traditional Team: teams have the ability to register for locally hosted events through their FIRST Program Delivery Partner. There may be additional fees to participate in these events, and those fees and payment terms are set by the FIRST Program Delivery Partner.

Class Pack: sites host their own celebration event at the end of their experience.

FIRST Robotics Competition teams have one or two events included as part of their registration depending on their geography's participation model
