Detroit Wrap Up

Congratulations to the FIRST Robotics Competition Chairman’s Award Winner in Detroit, Team 2834, Bionic Black Hawks, from Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, USA!

2018 FIRST Championship Detroit Chairman's Award Winner FIRST Robotics Competition

This wonderful team has a number of important accomplishments, from hosting events for all four FIRST programs, including the FIRST LEGO League Michigan State Championship, to partnering with their school district in the creation and support of dozens of teams, to creating their own locally-broadcast STEAM-themed educational TV show. Congratulations again, Bionic Black Hawks!

Congratulations also to our Chairman’s award finalists, two other wonderful teams:

  • Team 2220, Blue Twilight, Eagan, Minnesota, USA, and
  • Team 1816, "The Green Machine," Edina, Minnesota, USA

And additional congratulations to the teams on our winning alliance at the event:

  • Team 2767, Stryke Force, Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA
  • Team 27, Team RUSH, Clarkston, Michigan, USA
  • Team 2708, Lake Effect Robotics, Kingston, Ontario, Canada
  • Team 4027, Centre County 4-H Robotics, State College, Pennsylvania, USA

This was Team 27’s first appearance on Einstein in their 22 years of existence, and being on the winning alliance means they have now earned all the major accolades in FIRST Robotics Competition: Championship Chairman’s Award, Woodie Flowers Award, Dean’s List Winner, and now members of the Winning Alliance. This team, Team RUSH, truly is the complete package!

A special additional congratulations goes to our Volunteer of the Year award winner, Carol Perrotto!

By the way, we had amazing attendance in excess of 40,000 people at FIRST Championship Detroit! It’s no wonder we ran out of badges!*

Championship Volunteer Thanks!

With the conclusion of FIRST Championship Detroit, now is a great time to thank the 1,400+ total volunteers we had supporting FRC in both FIRST Championship locations. 80 of these volunteers supported both! Thanks so much for all you do! FIRST Championship would not be possible without you! And to the volunteers that supported both locations – I hope you’ve gotten in some Championship-class sleep in the last few days!

Frank

First, after 1998, there was no champion team. Now, there is no champion alliance. Oh well. Such is progress.
