Volunteer as a Judge Match Observer

FIRST Tech Challenge Only

As a Judge Match Observer for FIRST Tech Challenge, you’ll help bring robot performance into the judging conversation by watching matches and gathering key insights on how teams perform on the field. Your observations ensure that award decisions reflect both interviews and real-time competition. Most of the judges will be involved in the judge interviews and will not have much time to see the robots in action. 

Minimum Age: 18 years old (must be post-high school or equivalent), 21+ years old preferred

• Exceptions may be granted by event Volunteer Coordinators after review and approval by the local Program Delivery Partner

Experience: No FIRST or Related Field Experience required

Training: Some pre-event training required

• FIRST Judge Training required, accessed through FIRST Training

Role Details:

• A specialized kind of judge with focuses on robot performance on the field. Watch robots in action and collect data on the effectiveness and reliability of robot performance.
• Must read and comply with the Volunteer Handbook

Reports to: Judge Advisor
