Event Volunteer Role
Field Resetter
Field Resetters help keep the pace of match play by quickly and safely resetting the field after each match. They are essential to the flow of the event, working closely with the field team to ensure a consistent and safe competition environment.
Volunteer as a Field Resetter
Field Resetters repair, reset, and prepare the playing field after each match. Working under the direction of the Field Supervisor or Field Manager, they ensure that the field is ready for the next round of competition. This role is physically active and requires attention to detail and teamwork.
Minimum Age: 13 years old
Experience: No FIRST or related field experience required
- Familiarity with game rules and field setup helpful
Training: No pre-event training required
- On-site training and supervision provided by Field Supervisor or Field Manager
Role Details / Responsibilities:
- Reset the field by placing game elements and field components in their designated positions after each match
- Remove debris from the field and report any damage to the appropriate field leadership
- Monitor and safeguard the field area, robots, and team members during transitions
- Check field integrity (e.g., carpet seams), repair or flag issues as needed
- Retrieve out-of-bounds objects, and help protect scoring equipment
- Adhere to FIRST safety standards and maintain neutrality during matches
- Work in coordination with the Field Supervisor, Referees, and Event Staff
- Volunteers should focus on the role they are filling at that event. This includes:
- Helping avoid the appearance of bias by not cheering for one specific team when wearing official event apparel (volunteer shirt or FIRST/Partner staff clothing). Instead, we encourage volunteers to cheer for all teams equally.
- Refrain from accessing sensitive event areas unless they are necessary to fulfill your volunteer role for this event. This can include playing field access, scoring table and judging rooms.
- Wearing volunteer specific apparel (e.g. FTA shirt, Robot Inspector hat, etc) when filling that specific role.
- Must read and comply with the Volunteer Handbook
