FIRST AmeriCorps Program

The FIRST® AmeriCorps Program seeks to expand the vision of FIRST by working in areas that have been deemed underserved: lower socio-economic communities, rural areas, and areas that have little to no support or resources to be able to easily access STEM initiatives. FIRST AmeriCorps members work in a part-time capacity in schools and community based organizations that are participating in FIRST. FIRST AmeriCorps members support the expansion of the FIRST mission through coaching and mentoring, classroom and out-of-school support for programs, and school district support.

FIRST AmeriCorps members could be part-time educators, FIRST alumni, or graduate students in STEM or education fields. The program provides a modest living allowance, an AmeriCorps education award, professional development, possible loan deferment and interest forbearance for qualified individuals, and access to the FIRST network. Members will serve for a set duration of 9-10 months and the 2022-2023 term begins in October 2022.

Currently, the FIRST AmeriCorps program is accepting applications for members in five regions:

  • Compton, CA
  • Hillsborough County, FL
  • New York City, NY
  • Newark, NJ
  • Volusia County, FL
