Volunteer as a Lead Scorekeeper

FIRST Tech Challenge Only

The scorekeeper helps the flow of the event and provides information and match scores to the teams and to the audience. The lead scorekeeper is the person responsible for making sure the scoring system is set up correctly (including displays and user tablets for other volunteers) and that match scores are entered accurately. The volunteer should work closely with the FIRST Technical Advisor (FTA). This position is ideal for experienced scorekeepers who now would enjoy coordinating the efforts of fellow volunteers while ensuring the action remains continuous and the teams and audience stay informed of the outcome.

Minimum Age: 18 years old (must be post-high school or equivalent), 21+ years old preferred

• Exceptions may be granted by event Volunteer Coordinators after review and approval by the local Program Delivery Partner

Experience: Both FIRST or Related Field Experience required

• Previous experience as a scorekeeper required

Training: Some pre-event training required

• Access through FIRST Training

Role Details:

• This role is sometimes filled by another skilled volunteer who can help set-up the scoring system but may not be the regular scorekeeper during the event.
• Must read and comply with the Volunteer Handbook
