UL is excited to announce the theme for the 2021 Safety Animation Award: ‘Safety is caring’. Strong teams create an environment where everyone feels safe to do their best work. UL knows it is critically important that teams are physically safe by making sure work environments are clean, organized, and hazard-free, but safety is also about caring for each other’s feelings and mental well-being – their psychological safety.

Teams can check out all the details about the Safety Animation Award, as well as the Safety Manual and the Safety Guidance during COVID-19 on the Safety page of the website.

Submissions for the Safety Animation Award are due on Thursday, January 14 at 3pm ET.

Other Awards Update

We are excited to let you all know that the submitted awards portals (Chairman’s, Woodie Flowers, and Dean’s List) will open on Thursday, November 19, 2020, at Noon ET. The deadlines for these awards have been moved later in the calendar:

  • Chairman’s Award deadline: Thursday, February 25, 2021, at 3pm ET
  • Woodie Flowers Award deadline: Thursday, February 18, 2021, at 3pm ET
  • Dean’s List Award deadline: Thursday, February 18, 2021, at 3pm ET

In addition, with the plan for the 2021 season to have judging done remotely and our prediction that many teams may not have access to create videos like they typically would, we have decided that the Chairman’s Video will not be required for this season. No videos will be accepted at the initial level of competition and the video will not be used in the judging process.

All the details about the video submission and the deadlines for the awards can be found on the Submitted Awards page of the website.
