Edit: 10/26/2017, 9:45AM to correct opening date to Thursday, November 9, 2017.

Details on the 2018 Safety Animation Award sponsored by UL have just been released!

Get creative and help your fellow teams stay safe by submitting an animation for the competition! The submission portal opens on November 8th November 9th and closes on December 7th, so get cracking! It’s going to be a fun one this year as FIRST Robotics Competition and UL ask teams to create an animation in the style of an arcade video game. The winning entry will get shown at official FRC events. All the details are in the link above.

We know how creative our teams can be, so let’s see it!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

In the linked article it says that submissions open on "Thursday, November 8th", but November 8th is a Wednesday. I am going to assume that you mean Wednesday, November 8th. I just wanted to inform you of the error.

Thank you so much for pointing this out. We have made changes to this blog, the safety page, and the Season Calendar to reflect the correct date: Thursday, November 9, 2017.

Question about the safety video requirements, specifically this part:

The arcade game shown in the animation should simulate safe living and working environments for its characters by utilizing safety science and hazard based safety engineering related power up elements throughout the game.

Does this mean we show a physical environment (laboratory, pit, etc.) with safety devices or can we have roboticists practicing safe habits in an arbitrary environment? Also, are power-ups limited to the classic arcade game power-ups such as Mario mushrooms or can it be more abstract? Right now, we have a Pokemon style game where "moves" are safety items or behaviors.

Thanks!

Hi Justin! We have intentionally left room for interpretation in the description of the animation. We want to see your creativity and welcome your abstract ideas as you feel fit in with the theme. Thanks! And have fun!

Where do I go to submit an animation?

Hello! Submission information can be found on the Safety page here: https://www.firstinspires.org/robotics/frc/safety. If you still have questions or difficulties, please send an email to frcteamadvocate@firstinspires.org. Thanks! Jamee

My browser's telling me the FIRST website is redirecting me too many times, and I am unable to access the page to submit. What do I do?

The link to put the safety animation isn't working.
